The Days Of Pearly Spencer

Το Days of Pearly Spencer γραφτηκε απο τον David McWilliams, εναν τραγουδιστη, συνθετη και κιθαρίστα απο τη Β. Ιρλανδια το 1967.
Αναφερεται στη ζωη ενος αστεγου ζητιανου που γνωρισε ο McWilliams. Ειχε μεγαλη προβολη απο το Radio Caroline και τα μουσικα εντυπα στο Ηνωμενο Βασιλειο.
(Το Radio Caroline ιδρυθηκε το 1964 για να καταλυσει τον ελεγχο της μουσικης απο τις δισκογραφικες εταιριες και το μονωπολιο του BBC, λειτουργουσε πολλα χρονια χωρις αδεια και εθεωρειτο πειρατικος σταθμος).

ΤΟ ΠΡΩΤΟΤΥΠΟ

Αποτέλεσμα αυτής της προβολής  ήταν να φτάσει στο Νο.1 των Charts σε πολλές ευρωπαϊκές  χώρες (μεταξύ των οποίων η Γαλλία και η Ολλανδία) και να πουλήσει ένα εκατομμύριο αντίτυπα παγκοσμίως.

Παρ’ ότι έγινε πολύ δημοφιλές στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, απέτυχε στα charts, ίσως γιατί το BBC αρνήθηκε να το παίξει,  επειδή παιζόταν στο πειρατικό ραδιόφωνο.

Η ΔΙΑΣΚΕΥΗ

Το 1991 κυκλοφόρησε ως διασκευή στο album του Βρετανού Marc Almond “Tenement Symphony”, ο οποίος μάλιστα του προσέθεσε και στίχους.
