ΤΟ ΠΡΩΤΟΤΥΠΟ

Το “Disarm” γράφτηκε από τον Billy Corgan και συμπεριλήφθηκε στο άλμπουμ των Αμερικανών Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream το 1993. Τον Μάρτιο του 1994 κυκλοφόρησε ως τρίτο single από τον δίσκο, με δύο διαφορετικά εξώφυλλα και διαφορετικά συμπληρωματικά κομμάτια. Παρότι το BBC απαγόρευσε τη μετάδοσή του στο Top Of The Pops εξαιτίας κάποιων στίχων, έφτασε το Νο. 11 στο βρετανικό hit parade. Στις ΗΠΑ δεν άγγιξε καν το Billboard Hot 100, διακρίθηκε όμως σε κάποια επιμέρους charts (Νο. 5 στα Mainstream Rock Tracks και Νο. 8 στα Modern Rock Tracks).
Κατά τον Corgan, πρόκειται για το πιο προσωπικό κομμάτι του άλμπουμ – κατά τη δική μας άποψη, είναι σίγουρα το καλύτερο, και ένα από τα πιο «δυνατά» κομμάτια που ηχογράφησε ποτέ το γκρουπ.

Η ΔΙΑΣΚΕΥΗ

Το 2013 οι Civil Wars διασκευάζουν το “Disarm” για το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους The Civil Wars. Πρόκειται για μια πιο ακουστική εκτέλεση, είναι μάλιστα το μόνο κομμάτι του δίσκου όπου αναλαμβάνει τα κύρια φωνητικά ο John Paul White, αφήνοντας τη Joy Williams σε συνοδευτικό ρόλο.
